I went through a similar evolution — my almost 5 y/o now wears dresses or skirts every day. I don’t fight her on style or matching, just focus on comfort (will you be cold in that?) and preserving special items (1-2 special occasion dresses and one pair of fancy shoes). Oh, and we do have a rule about wearing

As a feminist, I do not like princesses and I don’t let her participate in princess culture.

While we’re talking, dressing your child in PINK is not an evil thing to do and will not make your current nor your daughter’s future feminist card invalid.

What I find particularly interesting is how so many parents around me love to inhibit the princess desires of their own daughters, yet they think it’s so “cool” that my son wants to dress like a princess every day. Talk about a double standard.

Forcing a kid to dislike stereotypical feminine things is as wrong as presenting those same stereotypes as the only option. It’s not about those things being good or bad, it’s about the freedom to choose.

You think anything feminine is negative unless a boy is wearing it then its empowering. Leave your daughter alone.

She probably wants manufacturing jobs back. Like most conservatives, she’s too dumb to realize that her demand should be for job retraining to help those in dying industries continue to earn a living. But...Republicans are obsessed with the past, so it’s no wonder they always want to go backwards.

Conservatives only care about others when it directly affects them.

It’s funny, my husband’s whole family are right wing conservatives. They don’t like immigrants (except his uncle’s wife but “she came in the right way” by applying for political asylum in a country that it really shouldn’t apply to) or people who use benefits (except his cousin who is on food stamps, they feel like

I can’t tell you how many Trump supporters (including my mother) were convinced he would not actually do all this shit. I asked her “So either he is a liar or he is going to do a bunch of terrible things?”. “We need a change” she said, completely neglecting that change can also be bad.

They expected all of that stuff to benefit THEM, not those other people with the darker skin and funny accents.

Literally all of my Trump voting family members told me some variation of this when defending why they were voting for him. I would say “oh but what about this thing he said?” and they would say “oh well he doesn’t mean that, he’s not really going to do that, it’s just big talk on the campaign trail!” They had no good

I guess they just listened to the people who said “don’t take him literally”, because when one of your issues is “regular politicians are too dishonest”, voting for someone who you can’t believe the words coming out of their mouths is a great idea...

What confuses me are the people who are like, “I thought he wouldn’t really do those things.”

Words cannot describe my annoyance at these people who are surprised that Trump is doing all these things that he was obviously going to do. I feel sorry for the guy and his kids, but fuck this lady. Especially since she was also an undocumented immigrant! WTF LADY!

I’m fascinated by the “I did it for the economy” argument. Like incredibly low unemployment rates and rapid job growth wasn’t enough for you? The hell else did these people expect?

Because better to abstain from voting than elect vagina/emails. OK, stupid.

You’d be surprised how many legal immigrants voted for Trump on the thought that their undocumented family members would be fine.

What infuriates me is that what she learned from all of this is that she thinks she shouldn’t have voted at all. Really? With hindsight, you don’t wish you had exercised your right to vote for someone whose administration probably wouldn’t have ended up encouraging the type of ICE deportations that resulted in tearing

I feel bad for him. But her? Screw that. She should have listened to him more carefully, or, you know, not drunk the Kool-Aid and done some research. The only good thing to come of this is that maybe, just maybe, people like this will turn on him in 2020.
