That's too bad, but not surprising. I did have HBO brielfy around 12 years ago and just remember that it seemed like 22 hours of its programming was utterly boring and couldn't see why I was paying extra for it.

"background noise" is what the Simpsons reruns eventually became for me, which wasn't so bad in a warm-familiar-fuzzy-place kind of way. And BTW, I have a large poster of that Johnny Cash pose right behind me. Makes it hard to find a "nice" place to aim my webcam for when I join video conferences from home.

I'm the guy who's given up on the new Simpsons episodes, doesn't have HBO and has never seen Game of Thrones, already has a stack of books I never have time for, but yeah, will catch up on Netflix some day...

Weird, I just heard the Big Star version of this song on NPR's Open Air radio yesterday. Only had heard the That '70s Show version up till then, and because of that my brain wants to fill in the "we're all alright" part

Bing images? They seem to have scrubbed the web of any images that would illustrate my point. Interesting...

The prisons/high schools all seem to share the same architect don't they! Even though my high school had a more modern design, we all said it must have been designed with a prison in mind.

Really quite fascinating. My first thought is that the Lichtenberg figure is based on some kind of inflammation of the vascular system, and while Wikipedia states, "they are thought to be caused by the rupture of small capillaries under the skin," how do you reconcile the fact that the figures also happen in grass,

My first thought, too.

...and up in Heaven John Lennon is totally feeling better now.

I bet they will replace Bill with Seth Rogan and he will scare spirits into the ghost trap with his forceful laugh.

These whackjob geologists are totally overthinking this. Mars has cats.

What about Danny Parker / Tom Van Allen ?

I saw a young coyote today when I was exiting the freeway. He/she was waiting to cross the off-ramp to a field.

Now playing

io9, you're making it difficult for me to ween myself off the photo/youtube related comments today.

Totally agree. While traveling in the Czech Republic I saw a lone bear in similar spartan caged conditions repeatedly pushing himself off a wall, basically going insane.

I was thinking of someone else.

Uh oh... Now there's gonna be elderly divorce due to long distance cyber love via WoW.

I think terilhack was simply being facetious.

I would like the Cloud City desk lamp. And let's face it, we could all use more chip clips.
