The Airlines were held hostage ny the unions. I was a Counter Supervisor at SFO in the late 80's making $40k per year. That is about $80k in todays money and I was not union.

It really dumbfounds me when some unions would rather see the company go down in flames than to make concessions that will allow the business to continue operations.

I usually just drop it down 2 gears. The panic on their face is far greater when no brake lights come on, you just suddenly shave 10-15mph off your speed. They usually hang way back after the first time.
