Amazon is getting the Kindle dialed in so tight that the Nook and Sony better do something drastic to stay competitive.

@Thorax707: Yes. He already said he doesn't know how to work xbox iPads, etc..

@buttnugget: If Amazon was smart, they'd do it. It seems to me that they'd see a huge jump in sales if they can get a jump on the market and start pollinating their e-books onto the Nook or Sony. I personally use Kindle store for my iPad...

I can't believe that the good folks at RIM would name it Black Pad...maybe they're snapping up closely related domain names to prevent any fraudulent sites?

@OrbitalGun: Yeah, no arguing that point. The couple of times I've read by the pool using iPad, I had to position myself carefully and crank the brightness all the way up. No doubt the Kindle smokes an iPad in that regard.

@Lodril: Have you read any books on the iPad? I've read many books on my iPad, and I love it. The eyestrain criticism is a red herring generally drummed up by people who haven't read a book on iPad. It's actually quite nice, and I prefer reading on it than my wife's Kindle.

@buttnugget: I was going to comment on this, but I'll just reply in agreement to your post instead. The Kindle's form factor is great.

It makes better eco-sense to buy an old Toyota Tercel that gets mid/high 30s on the highway rather than buying a new car that's filled with nasty batteries and aluminum that is so godawful filthy to mine/process. But hey, I guess we want other people to know how eco-concious we are...

@dallasmay: Well sure, but I was making an apples to apples comparison on the fact that they're both similarly sized cars.

@dallasmay: Your numbers don't add up...a Leaf isn't capable of equaling the mileage of a 50mpg car that is spending roughly $200 per month in gas at today's gas price in my state.

@dallasmay: Or you could buy a Yaris and pocket $18,000 cash.

I agree with this. Just like modifying a car...it's legal but may potentially void a warranty.

This is like the tool world's version of the Vitruvian Man.

@Grégory Jourdan: Yeah, I got ya. Is he ready for the silver screen..no, but I do think he's Brad Pitt compared to what he used to look like.

@Pininfarina: Yours and my definition of success are wildly different.

@Ginsu: I doubt you would say that if you saw what he looked like beforehand. Dude, they gave him a new face...I'll say it again: they gave him a new face...have a little perspective.

This is great news. Even though I use Kindle books for my iPad, it's always irked me that I'm buying a license to read the book instead of the actual e-book itself.

@CaptainJack: I hear ya, I adjust to the screen, and if I didn't see what the screen looked like without the glasses, I prolly wouldn't be bothered...but I sort of prefer the brightness of the screen sans glasses. Oh well...I've only seen like 3 movies that I thought 3D was appropriate for, so generally the

Sort of unrelated...but why don't major 3D movies crank up the brightness just a bit to compensate for the glasses?

@Terabiter: Hey turtleneck, you ain't shit! Spread collar is where it's at! You've been sucking since you were invented. That's mock(ing) turtleneck.
