My god people are so fucking dumb. Sorry you dealt with so much absolutely ridiculous hate from your awesome work here. I will follow your work wherever you end up. Honestly, you deserve better than this hell hole anyways. Best of luck!

It’s sad thinking about the talent and personalities that have come through here. I wish Kotaku had pulled a Defector about 2-3 years ago. That’s a site I would have gladly subscribed to.

Fuck, it has been a shitty few years watching these sites just bleed talent, especially when the void seems increasingly filled with content mill-like stuff that just wastes the talent of the people who stick around.

This is a nice longform article in the vein of Jason’s Schreier’s reporting of behind-the-scenes game development. Glad to see this article type again. Great job!

Correct me if I’m wrong but Humble is still the only store that allows you to donate anything to charity, correct? There’s a reason for that. Most developers and publishers have no interest in giving their games away for free. If you can donate 100% of the sale to charity, that means the developer and publisher gets

Comment posted too quickly for me to have read article in entirety. Condescending sentence calling out author for not including piece of information clearly detailed in paragraph 4 of the story. Your arguing semantics, largely. Nobody is saying they should just let people sit at home twiddling their thumbs and get paid if their job no longer exists. And of course a better option would be to give them the same benefits they would give an outgoing CEO: severance, insurance, support.

Yeesh that school shooter take. A fair amount of school shootings are perpetrated by kids/teens, his answer is just... Shoot them first?

I’ve been around this place for some time now. I’ve been the fulltime weekend editor since Feb 2019, but before that I’ve been writing about GTA Online(and other stuff) for Kotaku as a freelancer since... (looks it up) AUG 2016.

Most Hollywood stuff is done by union labor. Almost all video game work is done by non-union labor. Might have something to do with that.

Feels like “Best Direction” at the Game Awards is becoming the same as “Best Director” at the Oscars: it almost always just gets handed to whatever wins Best Picture/Game because people don’t put much thought into what a director actually does (or go with the logic “well the Director is in charge so best direction
