re: despotic and gratuitous
It helps a little if you stop thinking of DayZ as a 'game' per se and more as a simulation of what little restraint people will show in a dystopian future. The people having 'fun' in this video are forcing three victims to participate in a fatal blood sport (two involved, one forced to

I'm there with you man. I'll be the first to counter off any video game violence alarmist. However, I can't help but feel this video depicts something very dark and disturbing about human beings. That when given power over other sentient beings, they will always find ways to abuse it in the most heinous of ways.

There are two parts to the definition of the word 'violence', you only used the first. The second is more applicable here:

Wow... I'm astonished by such simplicity! I don't think violence has to be tangible in order to be effective. Would you say The Lord of the Rings or Stieg Larsson's Millennium aren't violent. I'm not saying violence is wrong and all, I'm just saying I can't stand it when I find it to be gratuitous and perpetuated by a

The funny thing is I read all Walking Dead comics. This series is a good example of humans being worse than zombies and a lot of the violence isn't any less gratuitous than in DayZ... I'm thinking about Negan and the Governor... I guess I don't like what I see in this video because wouldn't want to do such thing if I

I use Bing to find Google!

I'm a little late to this conversation, but the whole 'why not build your own computer' thing gets thrown around a lot. And I think that's sort of missing the point. From what everyone says, maybe that's actually a pretty easy thing. But to the layperson, by which I mean anyone from a serious gamer who doesn't happen

The people who can be induced to build a PC are not really the focus here, it's the people that would never even attempt it by themselves. There are lots of people like that out there that they can coax into the shallow end of the pool.

What franchises have they ruined?

hopefull this means that Star Wars will finally get better artists on the book. DH just never had the best art... it was always story over visuals (not that thats a bad thing.) I just want to see the book come out with some killer visuals taking the front seat this time.

A year after the game's release, Square Enix's Head of Studios Darrell Gallagher reported that Sleeping Dogs had become profitable and continues to see 500,000 unique players a month. Great news for Sleeping Dogs but not for those developers who have already lost their jobs. Public companies under pressure to show

I bet he's feeling some shame right now.

Missing the point completely

And THAT is why you can't be on the Avengers. You can't even pass the trust exercises Parker...

What facets of the fiction have changed? This is Superman, a character who's been around for 75 years and has had very inconsistent writing throughout. Killing a main bad guy? He's done that before. Not being able to save everyone? That's happened. Compared to the time that he lost the cape, got electric powers

There was no actual rape involved, so using it here cheapens the word and is only used for shock value.
