Great post, thanks...

Exactly- there are some really good metallurgical stories now about Titanic which validate this.

Not entirely true, as the bulkheads didn’t extend fully on the upper end of each vertical bulkhead. It resulted in water filling then spilling (essentially) over to the next one, which doomed her truly. Had that engineering been done (and some metallurgical changes), she might not have sunk.

In 2022, they had $50B in total revenue. They have over 50k employees and operate in 29 countries. They operate in a highly regulated and complicated space.

CA also leads the country in auto thefts (and it’s not even close) and total aggregate cost of claims. From an actuarial standpoint, I’m sure that’s a driver.

RLM’s breakdown was spot on too from a host of plot, writing, and filmmaking angles.

No, they can’t actually. That’s part of the reason these films bomb. Because it’s forced. And it’s not just Fleabag becoming some physical force, it’s that it’s also at the expense of an emasculated Indy, who’s shown to be a drunk, divorced, and broken down man. They tore down a cultural icon for the sake of forced

I read an interesting review that touched upon this--it revolved around the fact that Harrison Ford is a very physical actor and someone with whom we are familiar (our brains especially). So when you have Ford’s face de-aged and put on another body, you may not have noticed, but your brain did, as Mr. Plinkett would

John Williams is such a treasure. I love this man’s talents and gifts so much, and he’s scored perhaps the soundtrack of many of our lives.

Whooo!! This show is incredible and I can’t get enough of it. Such great writing, amazing line delivery and acting and gut bustingly funny.

You dolts. What an intellectually disingenuous piece.

What are you talking about? My XC-90 has cupholders and every possible accoutrement I’d ever want or need.

As a former Texan who had to do this every year, it was an inconvenience but not a huge pain in the ass. Place I went to was an inspection puppy mill that would jam them through pretty quickly and the electronic verification for registration was done ASAP. But we do more bureaucratic B.S. in the name of safety that

Your daily reminder that this woman has destroyed one of the most iconic entertainment franchises that has ever existed.

Good. As long as Kathleen Kennedy is around, nothing Star Wars should be contemplated.

Yeah, the USS Texas is now in dry dock in Galveston undergoing a monster refurb. Don’t know if it’ll return to the San Jacinto battlefield and park area in time, but at least it’s being preserved, which is huge.

OK, this actually isn’t the worst idea in the world.

To be fair, NHTSA should never have more power. They are a consultory regulatory body. This is where their agenda would liaise with legislative bodies to talk about other action items.

Beyond the “trying to be better is enough” theme, for me, the central theme of this entire show is selflessness. Everyone learns to care about others. Central to that is Ted’s utter selflessness, sometimes to his own detriment.

Range, charging, purchase costs.
