No, he literally never said that the victims “don’t have it as bad” as Louis and Roseanne do. On the face of his actual words, he made no value judgments at all. He said they did not go through the same things.
“losing everything in a day” (which is obviously referring to their careers and reputation) is what he is referring to throughout, correct? He says the victims didn’t go through “that,” correct?

One of my favorite books as a kid. John Bellairs was a great author. This movie looks like Jack Black hamming it up around some CGI effects. The previews do not reflect the gothic strangeness contained within the novel.
Cabrini-Green, the run-down housing development where this horror classic was set, was leveled as the surrounding neighborhood gentrified. I believe it’s now home to a Target store.
