I think that Moore's biggest problem with V, by far, was that the filmmakers hijacked his story (and his country) to carp about the Bush Administration at a remove.  He felt that his own story had nothing to do with that and that it was rather cowardly to hide an anti-Bush screed in a non-American setting.

@disqus_oaLJ5MNIyo:disqus Actually all of Moore's books for his America's Best Comics imprint with WildStorm/DC are owned by DC now, except for LEAGUE.  They've done some TOP 10 without him, to little success.

Actually I thought the spirit of the books was pretty much subverted and abandoned.  They turned V into a hero, big mistake.  It's got a few good scenes I suppose.

Ugh.  Why do people think that movie was any good?

But he DOES tear up checks.  When his work is adapted for film against his wishes and he can't stop it, he refuses the money.  It's gotta be millions at this point.

@avclub-bf685d0c6e419fab93fb447f71610d36:disqus I'm fine with change, but it needs to be consistent.  If they want to change someone's powers, they should stay changed from issue to issue.  They shouldn't fluctuate wildly without explanation on the goofy whim of a writer.

@avclub-a171d9b078d8fd668b699188db001042:disqus Captain Marvel's biggest weakness was his vulnerability to copyright law.  When Fawcett Publications stopped printing Captain Marvel stories, Marvel Comics dropped an elbow from the sky and quickly introduced their own Captain Marvel character and copyrighted the name,

@avclub-bf685d0c6e419fab93fb447f71610d36:disqus Inconsistencies early on can be explained by Grimm's condition changing as the series progressed.  His appearance slowly changed and he got stronger and stronger until the mutation stabilized for the most part.  (Except for that weird phase when he took some more

The Thing can bench press 85 tons, as per THE OFFICIAL HANDBOOK OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE.  Yeah, I'm that guy.

Sure, here's an example.  In the 1980s there was a series called ALL-STAR SQUADRON, depicting the heroes of the Golden Age banding together during World War II by order of FDR.  The writer tackled the problem of the war not being ended with a week by Superman, Wonder Woman, et al just invading Tokyo and Berlin by

As @avclub-62cddea5468ad920696c0677952502de:disqus already pointed out, it's really hard to look at stuff like BLACKEST NIGHT and SINESTRO CORPS WAR and call it "Silver Age fetishism."  It's ugly, militaristic and nihilistic.  It's really not Silver Age at all.

I actually can't stand that Bendis promoted Cage to be a first-rank hero.  Leading the Avengers?  ugh.  Ridiculous.

What's even weirder about that story, @TaumpyTearrs:disqus , is that the movie also originally starred Eric Stoltz.  That poor guy just can't catch a break.

I would agree with you, except the filmmakers insist that no, this was intended to be the original universe, revisited and altered.  The idea that this is an entirely separate universe WOULD make it a reboot.  But they say otherwise.

@avclub-e329caccd50119a7e020cb5532f30569:disqus Seriously, that is just a terrible copout.  I want to enjoy a story that feels believable and consistent unto itself, not make excuses for clunky problems by saying that the screenwriters needed to scrap logic here and there to serve their narrative purposes.  The

He/she was praising a character for acting completely out of their well-established, well-known-even-to-non-fans character.  This does not seem like a controversial or provocative assessment on my part.  The idea of liking a Spock who is seething with emotion and can't control himself, and who engages in knock-down

@avclub-d7f43e1fb2d4977c86163d9b0cb07814:disqus I wouldn't even call that reverence.  It's just trying to get unearned attention and good will by using names and dialogue and characters people recognize.  Lifting whole lines of dialogue from WRATH…ugh.

@avclub-0de5d1a081a3095d62b416e44e055e7a:disqus I'm afraid you've got it wrong.  I was dreading that they would be bringing Khan into this second movie.  As much as I disliked the first one, I figured if it revived the franchise and we could get brand new adventures, that would be fine.  But we're not.  It looks like

He had approval though, plus his background is in screenwriting.
