I'm pretty sure she couldn't stand to be dumped, so she went and won him back so she could be the one who chose to break up.  Marnie is basically a contemptible, awful woman.  (If that is what the writers are going for, kudos.  But I suspect they find her sympathetic for some reason I can't fathom.)
