second gen Probe was '93-'97. 1998-2002 Cougar was based on Mondeo/Contour platform and used some Contour SVT items in the sport package, so maybe that explains the cult following, lol. 200hp could have maybe made that car fun!

that was a longitudinal engine. The transverse 3800's were different block entirely, IIRC

??... Fiero's last year (1988) was same as first model year of Quad 4. I know GM wasn't about to debut their first DOHC 4 valver in a lame duck chassis, but they indeed could have.

to be fair, the Lamborghini Diablo was near 500hp in '92 and well over that while the XJ220 was still being produced. 911's and 348's weren't in the supercar class of the Jaguar. The F40 (470+ hp, much lighter) and Bugatti EB110 (550+ hp) were closer competition. I do agree though, the XJ220 wasn't underpowered.

XJ220's V-6 was derived from a bespoke racing (Group B, at that!) engine (only used in road cars for homologation) whose derivatives also powered TWR's XJ-10,XJ-11 to runner up for IMSA GTP manufacturer titles twice. It had more in common with the DFV (it was designed by an ex-Cosworth engineer) than any British

1 foot rollout. big difference. Edmunds' 0-60 test is sans rollout.

first few years of the ZR-1 didn't even break 400hp...375 from 1990-92

center differential= AWD.

"V" stands for venturi, no?

wow, that link is pretty wild. Tons of vitriol towards C7s (and the UAW). Much of it deserved, but many errors in fact and correlation. There's one post that claims Callaway's 800+ hp/ 250+ mph "Sledgehammer" was available as a factory option!

Too right! SCC is still sorely missed. I'd like to believe that Dave Coleman is partly responsible for Mazda still making some of the most fun cars in their respective classes. Need a new Speed 3 soon, though!

Good points about CAFE. Regarding "real world" fuel economy- those Fusions are pairing a turbo with an auto trans, which is a terrible combo for real world MPG. Mustang Ecoboost with a stick should be able to deliver better than EPA numbers when driven appropriately. Keeping the R's down and short shifting throws the

that was my first guess as to the seemingly high weight. Honda K-series are usually swapped with the mating transaxles attached. IIRC, Hondas don't mix and match trannies very well.

T-100's (and 4Runner, pickup) used the 3vz-e SOHC and were only rated at 150hp. This is the 3vz-fe DOHC 24 valve (185hp) that was only used in North America in 92-93 Camry/ES300.

3vz-fe had aluminum heads/ iron block. Bi-metallic engines can be more problematic with head gasket issues, especially with even minor overheating, due to the differing expansion rates.

have sent a few requests in the past (why no manual?/why no wagon?,etc.). They actually respond, but it's always along the lines of "nobody else cares/the market has spoken/you're an idiot". Pretty blunt and honest replies for a company that admittedly aspires to be more Toyota-like (and less Subaru-like).

I couldn't agree more, but....Subaru doesn't even offer a wagon in ANY form in the US these days.

so, you think a .3 difference between 0-60 and 5-60 is a joke? I'm guessing that 0-60 time includes a roll-out as well. Do we now consider 1/4 mile ETs "bullshit" as well (they use the same launch method)? This article is pointless and leaves the impression that you are aren't quite knowledgeable about vehicle

yeah, I thought maybe there was an April Fool's hangover occuring. Article is definitely an embarrassment .

its V6 originated as a purpose designed race engine which utilized several features from the Cosworth DFV. Was used in the XJR-10,11,+16
