It's still pretty accurate, as long as you understand how to best utilize the trans for the best economy. CVT's and automated manuals(no torque converter) are excepted. As far as EPA testing, they still use an archaic procedure for shift points for manual trans vehicles, and their entire testing process is biased

Thank you! I can't understand why VE keeps getting brought up!

that pretty much hits it on the head

half a thumb down for the LT1 swap, another half thumb down for the salvage title. CP all the way for 11k

I believe that both use a version of the Tundra's body on frame platform. Please inform if that is not correct.

I feel your loss, as a big Sport Compact Car fan , but have found some solace from

keep in mind that the GT company that warranteed your bud's frame no longer exists. The remnants of GT/Schwinn were purchased out of bankruptcy in 2001 by Pacific Cycles (yeah , the shitty dept. store brand). I wouldn't trust any of their products and would hate to have to deal with their warranty dept. Trying to get

Great article. Thanks for your perspective and insight, Lindsay. I work in another male dominated field , and it's very uncomfortable when the few women who are involved are treated as eye candy and not taken seriously.

nice one

I haven't seen anybody mention that the entire premise of this argument against manuals is absolutely false. Fuel mileage is inherently better with a standard trans by at least 5-10% vs. a torque converter trans. Why does no one question EPA testing methods? Does anyone even know exactly what they are? Closest I

It's not a liberal thing...it's about money. The manufacturers love the ridiculous EPA testing procedures that allow them to game the tests to achieve higher numbers for auto equipped vehicles. Adding a $1k+ option to b and c class cars that used to have much higher take rates for clutches- that's a no brainer.

THANK YOU!

you're absolutely right. Torque converters are still terribly inefficient, and development of the standard transmission has been at a relative standstill compared to slushes. 7+ speeds , or even a decenty tall 6th gear would help greatly in real world conditions.

Bingo! How was it not even on the list?

pretty clever!

wrong, two constants- him and law enforcement. A lot of cops will just be intimidating dicks to people when they believe they can get away with it. And those are the honest ones. And that's a fact.

I can't agree completely with your initial statement, but it still has lots of merit. As far as being singled out or harassed "for no good reason", I believe you completely. For a lot of police, their idea of probable cause is that they really don't like your looks- longhair, wrong color, tattoos, whatever- or they

I do remember GM officially quoting the cost of hybridization(to consumers) for its full-size trucks, and it was $4k, but that was a number of years ago.

post is awesome, as is math

that shouldn't affect the timeslip right? Doesn't the timer start when the front wheel breaks the beam?
