Fully agree, the atmospheric New Edge Cobras were the best handling Stangs on that platform, and the only ones that could keep up with the F-body. 320 hp (Ford fixed all that were afflicted by legitimate supplier caused defects) in the not yet overweight chassis makes for a good pony.

the last Hertz models (2006?)were ridiculous. Can anyone corroborate that Hertz supplied octane booster with your rental, due to the tune being so off that it detonated on premium? I think Car and Driver mentioned it in an article back then.

damn,I loved that Cobra II- but I was like 7 at the time, WTH did I know!

really? no different than random gunfire? It sounds like (if the police story is actually the truth) this guy was too affected to be behind the wheel, but a .16 BAC (recorded 90 mins after-ACCORDING TO POLICE- could easily have been around .12 or less when incident happened) is not insanely intoxicated for many. Sure,

Damn, I was looking for a Mosler Raptor!

awesome bit of info. That was when Cannondale (R.I.P.) had Volvo as a co-sponsor (mid 90's), correct?

1st gen Saab 9000 turbo (86-98 in US).

was always my one of fav supercars from that era...quad turbos , all wheel drive

pretty sure you'd lose. just my 2 cents.

pretty sure it was actually a Mazda platform as well.

weren't pop-up headlights mainly a response to NHTSA's rule in '70's /'80's that only allowed for 2 models of sealed beam headlamp in US cars?

I'm with CobraJoe. I think it looks pretty good, and with a turbo/6 spd, sounds like possible fun. The design is a poor utilization of space however, in stark contrast to the Versa and Cube. For such a low interior volume in a "cute ute", Design Fail is appropriate, regardless of exterior styling.

thank you

OMFG, i just missed ruining my keyboard with spit out soda by 2 inches. Funniest. Bumper. Sticker. Ever.

thanks for the further info! Geez, almost 20 years later, and I still love reading about this stuff!

wow, where to start.

very interesting. I don't recall ever hearing that the Mercedes pushrod engine episode was one of the sparks under T.G.'s ass. It makes some sense, as T.G. had an affinity for the Buicks and Menards. Not doubting you...I just don't remember that mentioned.

Wow, it has been 30 years! I still remember seeing Bruce and the guys on MTV with "Run to the Hills" as my first taste of heavy metal being 10 myself.

Tony George. For all the obvious reasons.

Yup , NewsCorp (Murdoch) happened.
