Seriously? She's a minority woman of color in a largely male, largely white industry. Its not to say that this situation is about race at all, but it certainly is a dynamic in the situation.

I would say there's probably a difference between a hostile work environment — which is Adria's larger point, she shouldn't have to be subject to these kinds of jokes in a professional setting — and the use of trigger or content warnings on a large, public blog. Not using trigger warnings on posts here, I would

She explains in the comment section of her post why she didn't feel comfortable confronting them. While I might have told them to shut it myself, I understand where she was coming from on it.

Anonymous sent them a threatening email saying if they didn't fire her, they'd go on a full campaign of harassment against the company.

No problem. I understand.

I'm pretty sure you didn't mean to respond to me. :)

I'm curious — what is your definition of 'all' and 'classic novels'. Because I feel confident in the assertion that you wouldn't have had time to read 'all' of them.

Funny, the same questions were asked of Phyllis Schafly and I think we're still waiting on the answer to that. Do as I say, not as I do.

Contra — I'm deleting this comment not because you did anything wrong, but because the link shows the victim's name uneditted. If those screencaps are yours, if you blur out the victim's name and then repost, we're fine with that. Thanks.

And she deleted her twitter, I noticed.

This is a good point that you could/should make in its own post, because I think there are some around here who just don't get it.

Jesus. That whole twitter feed is a nightmare.

I was wondering if she could sue that asshat who tweeted all that shit about her getting raped, myself.

We do what we can with the time and the tools that are at hand. If you feel there's an issue, you can always email commenters@jezebel.com (that goes to me as the head mod), or report issues to trollpatrol.

If you scroll down this thread, there's discussion about what happened with that comment.
