She was interviewed for the book 'Far From the Tree'. The author was on Fresh Air recently and talks about it. Powerful stuff.

She was a bit old for daycare.

I'm glad to hear that they've expanded the program. Good luck with your pregnancy. I hope everything goes well for you.

Because she asked for books with female protagonists.

Don't project your friend Kate onto every feminist or every woman who asks this question. The fact of the matter is that no matter what your friend Kate is doing at home with her own son, once he's out in the wider world, the vast majority of the mass media he'll consume and the books he'll read will feature boys as

Paperbag Princess?

That sounds nice. I was on it a little before that (my daughter is a teenager now) and up in New England. There was no allotment for a farmer's market — I ate a lot of peanut butter while on WIC. (Not that I'm complaining, peanut butter is awesome.) Where I live now they're instituted a program where SNAP benefits are

When I was on it, it was all protein based foods, except for cereal. (This was up in MA.) So cheese, milk, peanut butter, and Kix, and formula as well. I don't think MA allowed for any vegetables — at least I don't recall ever having vouchers for it.

I felt the same way. It had its moments — the extended endings was a nice touch — but it definitely had the feel of a movie that only wanted to do a 'high brow' horror film and failed at being, you know, horrific.

It may be different where you live, but WIC (Women Infants and Children) is different from food stamps. I was on WIC during my pregnancy — its aimed at pregnant women and women with very young children — and it didn't allow for buying vegetables at all.

I agree! I've been really impressed with the turn around on the clothes. I've been shopping there pretty regularly now and can always find clothes in my size at reasonable prices.

I've got a great cream cheese frosting, so hit me up. Even if I don't make it for tomorrow, I'm a big baker and I love trying new things.

I have a couple of recipes like that! I used to make infused vodkas for Christmas presents that everyone loved until they found out how easy they were to make. And I make a Blueberry Boy Bait that people go crazy for, but the recipe is super simple.

Ooh, that sounds great. I'm definitely going to try this, even if not for tomorrow.

I love sour cream cake. Or I used to. Though my go-to sour cream cake was chocolate based.

Thank you! I'm not big rum cake fan, but people in my family are. They'd probably love this.

I don't know. Unfortunately, my tolerance/taste buds have shifted so much that things I used to love (like chocolate) are total betrayers now. I don't think I've had anything with cinnamon in it since the operation. But that sounds fantastic if you have the recipe handy.
