Y'know, you've gotta respect Shia for not biting the hand that made him very, very rich (Michael Bay).

It wouldn't shock me if actors received very little actual direction or interaction with Spielberg. Unlike say Woody Allen or Spike Lee, Spielberg doesn't' seem that interested in actually holding the camera.

Kids, man, kids.

Tanks! Trains! Boats!

I guess it's sort of like my hatred for the Michael Bay Ninja Turtles movies without actually seeing them first.

Planned sequels can be cancelled if the audience doesn't show up. It happens all the time.

Independence Day minus Will Smith.

Bad Moms was a laser targeted success aimed squarely at my wife and her mommy friends. Excuse for a Girl's Night Out has already won half the battle there.

The original Ghostbusters rides about 60% on Bill Murray being Bill Murray.

"Pete is the focus of the film, not the dragon, who does not appear for much of the second act"

My 4 year old liked it, but his grandmother who took him, who has no knowledge of the original, found it boring.

Which oddly enough is terrible in most situations.

The books are delightful but don't easily lend themselves to the screen.

Was ID4 Resurgence a "sure thing"? I feel like once they couldn't afford Will Smith the whole thing was doomed.

There's nothing wrong with the Wimpy Kid movies, but they are on #6 or something. I mean, I enjoy Cars, but a third/fourth sequel (depending on how you count Planes) isn't exactly exciting to me.

Ghostbusters 2016 also got a huge amount of studio hype the smaller films didn't. Hard to have an opinion of a film you haven't even heard of.

It's on our list of "we should probably RedBox that at some point", but yeah, definitely didn't motivate our middle-aged, kid having butts to the theaters.

Huh, I actually think that could work. Take the source novel, but move it to Africa; I'm not enough of an expert to know a time and place it would work best.

I dunno, Ghostbusters II is a pale shadow of the original, but it's not an *awful* film.

Well, this definitely is a case of David critiquing Goliath.
