This might help put into context why rap beefs get so petty:

On the one hand, it’s petty.

At least they didn’t end up shooting at each other. In the past that was a crowd favourite for LA rappers. You had what were essentially CEOs of huge companies being murdered and doing murders like street thugs. It was tragic. They have at least grown up out of that.

Yeah, if people like this stuff then whatever, but to me rap beefs are the least interesting thing about rap music. Even diss tracks from the best rappers do kind of come off as childish.

I find it all a bit depressing. Yeah if they were just throwing some jabs at each other whatever, but the people gleefully following it and cheering it on - “This is like ‘We Are the World’ but for hating a guy.” is so wild to watch. I don’t know if the guy who was killed at Drake’s place shortly after this started…

Sounds like this all isn’t for you.  Which is fine.  Not everything is for everyone. But this shit is cool and fun rap.  It’s a good thing both these dudes are in their late 30's; there’s no chance this goes further than diss records.  Rap needs this.  Rap doesn’t need more young rappers getting killed over beef.
