Frances Ha is so great.

I thought that failure to upload was one of the ballsiest and most interesting choices in a generally mediocre (but not awful) TV show.

I'm side-eyeing the characterization of their being "crammed in a tiny little house". I thought the pilot was really good overall, but the set did not fit what the script and acting were portraying at all. I have four kids and I don't have to water down their milk or have them cough up money to pay the light bill,

I love this movie. Super underrated.

I love this movie. Super underrated.

I love that movie! It's not well known to begin with, and then it's criminally underrated among many of those who are familiar with it. I blame the nonjudgemental portrayal of infidelity, which seems to drive many people into an irrational fury.

I really liked the song they played in the "Six Months Later" epilogue, and Shazam'd it to learn that it is "Carry Me" by Family of the Year. I was surprised to find when I searched for it on Apple Music that they have it listed on an album but it cannot yet be played because "Pre-release: Expected Sept. 4". So they

I have been the "I can't" person—although I took way too long to get to that realization!

Those are often wrong, but I agree that's what I heard in this case.

Another great line from that scene (or maybe a subsequent one with the same group of people) was from Jessa: "Maybe you should look BECAUSE she's your sister."

Right. Homebirth is one thing, in a low risk pregnancy that goes all the way to term and attended by a qualified midwife. But what Adam's sister was doing was not any of that.

She's a bit overweight, but she definitely has a pretty face IMO.

She is a sub, and in many states the only qualification you need to substitute even at a PUBLIC school is a high school diploma (plus a criminal background check and a negative TB test), although in South Carolina and South Dakota, not even a high school diploma is needed.

She really does, good point! And you and katstermonster both used the phrase "blown away", which is apt. That was some tremendous emotive acting: very intense without at all being overacted. Kudos to Dunham.

I'm glad so many people saw the same amazing performance there. That was Streep-level emoting, which is amazing from Lena Dunham. And I say this as a longtime Dunham fan! I just would never have guessed she had that range (since almost no one does).

I think it's the other way around: most have live ammunition and one has blanks.

Missouri, 2004-2010. I checked, and Missouri still has the same law: 60 college credits of any kind (none need to be in education), plus a criminal background check and TB test, are all that is required to be a sub. But the pay was not that high: 10 bucks an hour.

Hannah's parents are way too old to be seeking/receiving tenure.

I subbed for years, at a public school, without any college degree at all.

Aren't Hannah's parents a little old for one to just be getting tenure, while the other is still seeking it? You're either tenure track or you're not, and if you are, you have 5-7 years from when you start working at the university to either earn tenure or be fired. If you already had tenure, or were on a tenure
