I hate to break it to you, but in a lot of states all you need is a high school diploma:

Right, and of course her protestations at the beginning that she wanted to keep it mum were shown to be total bullshit.

It's not just privileged men whose lives can be ruined by anonymous, and false, accusations. My best friend in college was from a poor inner city neighborhood, but he was really smart and got good grades and test scores in high school, and "got out", getting into the highly selective university we both attended, with

It was an awesome episode. I really loved the beginning parts at the school and then on the date, and would never have guessed that it was going to go uphill from there. The interactions between Adam and Ace and Hannah and Mimi Rose were brilliant.

Breeder? WTF

Yes, I used to defend her while nurtuing some doubt that this might have been because I find her so smoking hot. There is definitely no defending her now.

This is a great comment overall, but I especially heart this part:

Fun, 12 for 12 here. I'm a little surprised men did better than women given that women are outpacing men educationally these days.

In Missouri, all you need is 60 college credits (of any kind—none of them have to be in education), no degree required.

But let's face it: "It's not what you know, but who you know" is at least as true in teaching as anywhere.

She was clearly at a private school ("St." something). She does have a degree, and would presumably pass a background check.

I love teachers, I am married to one in fact, and my sister is one as well. But you don't need those credentials to teach at a parochial school, which is where she was shown entering.

I cut this show way more slack than most people do, but I'm really having trouble seeing how Hannah can even be willing to sit in the same restaurant with Jessa after she set Adam up with Mimi Rose.

Archie is the awesomest bodyguard ever. Love that guy!

My initial reaction was to be torn: I found the audacity and surprise of the twist really intense, but I also wanted to see exactly how this played out, and wondered how much resistance there was, etc. But you couldn't have both the surprise and show how it happened, unless you somehow did a kind of epilogue

We only saw one security guy actively join Pam's side. The others were shot or captured. I find it hard to believe Pam et al would trust them with freedom after that, much less give them back their guns. If they did actually do that, it's not hard to imagine them taking the side of the "First Generation", seeing

"Cheap misdirection" is a perfect way to describe it.

Another good question. But yeah, the early episodes would better fit the trope of "mysterious town with dark secrets tries to reassure outsider that everything is normal so he will go away and stop investigating them". Which of course does not fit what ultimately was shown to be true at all.

An optimistic future for the survivors? What about "It's a Good Life", perhaps their most iconic episode? That appears to be about the last survivors of humanity as well, and the ending is as bleak as it gets.
