i mean, who cares? does this really bother anyone? they’re not killing anyone. game shows are fun / popular. the tv show’s central message is irrelevant, especially, as you point out, they’re not actually gonna murder anyone.

Oh please, spare us the pearl clutching. Game shows have always been about putting desperate people in front of an audience and humiliating them for laughs and cash. It makes for engaging programming to the lowest common denominator, as much as we all pretend to hate it.
