Not to defend Google for these tactics, but let’s be honest Google Maps has been the go to for 99% of people for well over a decade.  The only reason Waze even made anything of itself was because of the, I think it was, crowdsourced traffic data.

Why anybody would want to use something other than Google maps is beyond me.

you’re an idiot if you think a 4th shot of anything is going to be the answer.

I really don’t understand why this is so much worse than so many of the cars we claim to love on here.

Continues to fascinate me how AV Club works. If this were almost anyone else — god forbid one of their favorite targets — this article would be dripping in snark and condescension, full of mean-spirited commentary with a click-baity headline, because “this isn’t a news site; it’s a blog,” and because the core story

It appears writer thinks we’re still in the 90s.

Great comment, and I’d like to add one more thing that Putin and Hitler failed to account for: American manufacturing

Anyone who wants to have their mind blown, and understand a lot of the context around the Russia-Ukraine war, should spend some time studying the Eastern Front in WWII. There are a ton of great resources out there, but my person favorite is Dan Carlin’s “Ghosts of the Ostfront” series as part of the Hardcore History

“...while Russia has a formidable wheeled military force...”

Setting aside hours where folks who are most likely to have a worse reaction to any kind of sickness can safely do their shopping makes sense.
