I don’t think most people realize how pricey parts and diagnostic/R&R services are on Smart cars, even if the sale price is low. It’s still a Mercedes-Benz, after all.

They use a microphone in combination with a litany of other sensors. Although microphones specifically aren’t common on bikes that I’m aware of, this is not uncommon in the automotive world (knock sensors, anyone?). Your bike’s ECU is definitely using a bunch of sensors at the same time to determine all sorts of data.
