I always found the game "The Movies" to be underappreciated. Sure it resembled "The Sims" too much and had an interface that was difficult to master, but the concept and editorial tools were well ahead of their time. If they could have made it as fun as it was ambitious, you would hear about it more.
I thought the walk might have started at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds or Fort Detrick Maryland. The bus that dropped them off showed Maryland/Delaware, but I'm pretty sure 250 miles from either would put you in northern Pennsylvania, not upstate New York.
