Well, it's true for my car, 2004 Jetta. Weird thing is, it doesn't have the arrow. I don't know if newer (or older) Jettas have the arrow. I've seen it on other makes though.

A fan. I don't know about others but I have to have a fan running when I'm going to sleep. Because the fan is familiar and constant, it helps keep me from getting disturbed by noises that would otherwise be jarring if I had silence for a background.
