Yeah, just to address all the people flipping out over this article, Wainwright’s comments are TOTALLY backhanded. He’s just subtly reiterating the company line, which is “Heyward was never really one of us, but good luck to him”. It’s not as egregious as Matheny, but it isn’t wholly genuine either.

If it wasn’t the right situation for the Cardinals, then why did they offer him a contract to begin with. The cardinals are so Midwest it hurts.
