One would think so; I know some goofy* 1990s concept cars featured skateboard-style chassis that you swapped the body on - so one day you had a compact coupe, the next you had a practical wagon or even a minivan and so on. They never did explain how a person at home was meant to swap a whole body with seats/interior

It’s a really good name, huh? Kinda hope they use it again for something...

lol because this worked great for them last time Honda outsourced manufacturing.

Hey, the joke I tell my wife is that her Leaf does have a manual transmission.

it’s also very accurate at illustrating some of the design decisions that give this car very little fault tolerance (like the tiny little coolant reservoir at the back of the engine bay - just to the right of the oil cap & “V8" text) and make this car an absolute nightmare to work on (note the lack of clearance

But you do lose the speedo, which as far as I’m concerned is a critical instrument. I’ve already been that moron driving down the road with the blinkers on :)

The issue here is CANBUS, and how deeply it integrates critical and non-critical systems. Subaru’s older implementations (older than I had, incidentally) were solid because the head unit was never physically connected to the same network as critical systems, making interference impossible.

Up until recently I thought Subaru had the right idea on this - if unintentionally. Basically you had a decent head unit/touchscreen infotainment system, but still had hard controls for climate control & volume, and most importantly that system was completely independent of every function that made the car a car. I know this is not a new comment to make (even by me) and all but I wish Microsoft would realize that their stupid fucking names are costing them sales.
