I’d put “the line” for supercars at the Dodge Viper and the Honda NSX* - that is; anything that is “less supercar-y” than either of those cars is definitely not a supercar, but anything that is “more supercar-y” than either of those definitely is.

That’s the issue, though. Nobody can quantify what a supercar is - it’s like pornography. You know it when you see it.

Why not? I get that they’re venerated engines, removed for their performance, their tunability... But imagine if they could rev...

for real though I applaud GM for making high performance mid-engined awesomeness available to the masses for "mid-tier BMW" money, but as far as I am concerned, the Corvette is still a car that is comparable to supercars, but not a supercar.

“Can’t drive the ute, the tranny’s cactus!”

Fun fact: in Australia, “Cactus” is slang for “dead, broken, useless”, which, when paired with the name of a well known plastic explosive is a hearty lol.

pfft ringlands are a consumable bro everyone knows that

for real, though, my buddy had an MK5 R32 with the DSG, and I was always in awe of the fact that they’d shoehorned that engine, transmission and AWD system into such a tiny space.

I don’t know; the R32 sorta feels like it’s playing in a different league. One where ride comfort, interior quality, fit and finish (and rattles) matter much, much more...
