Hahaha, no problem.
Hahaha, no problem.
That's some mansplain that I can agree with!
I love how whenever we talk about Sorkin around here, at least 3 people talk about how awesome Sports Night is; where as if you have the same conversation with other people, they automatically become really really confused.
Pretty sure Todd just hit Sorkin's problem on the head: "He's uncomfortable with shades of grey and demands conclusive answers."
And in rewatches, I've come to realise it's also got the Dan/Rebecca storyline, but dammit Josh Charles is so damn charming that he sells the crap out of it.
Which is quite possibly the worst thing of all of this. I doubt that if this were to come up in another show - hell even "Mary Pat Shelby" ends up doing what is right - that this course would've been taken.
Pretty sure Sorkin doesn't understand any of those words anymore.
I have no idea what to say, so in traditional Sorkin style I'm just going to ramble on for a bit. I should also note that I haven't seen s3 - live in Australia and don't have cable - so this is more of a reaction to Sorkin than to this episode specifically.
all the upvotes.
I feel … hmmm what's the phrase … oh yeah "morally obligated" to scream that from the rooftops.
Stephen was saying that apparently a lot of staffers nearly quit over the ep, but that's from twitter, so it might not best the best source for it.
I sympathise with the guy whose bro is in Afghanistan when he's showing is parents around, cause I'm normally delegated to that position cause no one knows what I'm talking about ….
It gets worse:
oh god that episode is horrible
I think in his earlier works - Sports Night and The West Wing - you didn't have to buy into his liberalism cause it wasn't front and centre. Stephen just mentioned that one of the things he liked about SN was that it was apolitical, and that's when Sorkin works well - when its his *characters* that are grappling with…
I haven't actually watched this season, I came across a poorly concealed spoiler on THR.
wtf the newsroom
