I once passed out after inhaling a balloon filled with helium. I must have been 6 or 7 at the time. I still don't like to inhale the stuff. Although I don't think that is the only reason this looks stupid to me.

Have you heard of Australian Chewing Sticks? I read about them while researching ways to help stop smoking, but it sounds like they might be useful in your case too. I think they are essentially just flavored toothpicks used to help the oral fixation.
