It’s absolute junk on Windows, but I’ve never had a problem with it on my Mac. I have it open right now playing music and it’s currently using 201MB RAM. Safari is using more than that. I can understand the hate for it on Windows, but it runs perfectly fine on Macs. It takes about 2 seconds to open and load everything

I don’t hate the modern UI. I hated Windows 8 because they prioritized a touch interface over a desktop one. Windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been.
