It’s a stream of white noise, supposedly this is how you can connect with the “spirit world” and catch phrases, or words from spirits attempting to communicate with the living realm. Typically, this is done with a group of people, where one person will be listening to the white noise, while others attempt to ask

Hey! Sorry if I offended you. Didn’t mean to. I guess I was just trying to “sound” funny by phrasing my question that way. I enjoyed your story. I had never heard of a spiritbox, but I’ve got a little story of my own in that same vein if it has to do with spectral audio.

LOL I had to google Spiritbox and it came up with a heavy metal band. Spooky story!

Ok, I live for these every year but never post because nothing super spoopy has ever happened to me. But there was one time. I had moved to a house on Alki (West Seattle) because this was the time where rent prices were literally doubling every year, but West Seattle was a little bit of a reprieve. I found a 2 bedroom

Home Sweet Haunted Home

We live on a short, dead-end street and we got to know many of our neighbours through our foster dogs that we had to walk from the far end of the street to the corner every time we’d take the dogs for walks.

So this is going to sound like nothing. At the time it FELT like nothing. It was only the next morning that I realized how fucked up it was. After the story last year about the yoga retreat (submitted by annclayborn) I figured I’d share.

When I was in college in the early 90's, I shared an apartment with a friend of mine in northern Alabama. Small, cotton town, with lots of large plantation homes scattered throughout our county. We lived in the Pryor Manor, right off of the courthouse square. The house was probably close to 150 years old. The Pryors

The last time I read any of these it was 2016! I’ve got two stories: one eerie, one nice.

Hi friends. In years past, I have always submitted (late, sorry!) my story about getting lost in middle school, getting lost in the woods and accidentally finding myself in a Haunt, where Jason leaned, smoking, against a tree and helped my poor, young teacher find her way out of the (fake) haunt and back to our camp.

This isn’t really scary and I’m certain there’s an explanation but it threw me for a loop at the time. It certainly isn’t going to be in the running for a prize, I just felt like sharing it as a supernatural-adjacent story.

No Running (in the Hall)

When I was 10 my mom and I had to drive through the Colorado Rockies in the middle of the night. We were going home from a family reunion and on the last leg home crossing six states, she said we had enough money left for gas or to stay overnight in a hotel room, but not both. Everything on the trip had cost more than

Ugh reason #1 I will never live without dogs of a certain size! My two blue heelers are both very sweet but would 100% tear someone up if they came in the house uninvited and they SOUND mean, which is what matters. They also help me when I read too many scary stories, because I can tell myself that if the dogs aren’t

Years ago, I housesat for my sister and her husband when they went off on their honeymoon. My boyfriend at the time was out of town, so it was just me and my sister’s two large boxers. It was in a suburban neighborhood, but their house sat at the edge of the neighborhood, next to a grove of hazelnut trees that then

My sister and her husband are foster parents to two little girls, and have two biological children of their own. They are hoping to adopt the girls but needed a bigger house for that to be a possibility. They started searching and found a giant house that used to be owned by a group of priests in the area. They housed

“Without a Whisper”

Okay so I talked about my creepy haunted childhood house for the home improvement Pissing Contest and was advised to post it in the Spooky Story contest. I have already read way scarier stories but I’ll just cut and paste with a few edits:

Not my story - I ‘witnessed’ it, but was a baby at the time.
