Oh, this is brilliant. It really is America in a nutshell, and I love the car and its greasy soul even more so for it.

Scraping off rust, cleaning it, and putting on rust converter. Turned my orange 1977 Volvo 242 into an unintentional rolling lady bug.

Says as much in the quoted statement.

A Mazda 6 *is* a big family car. We're in Urop and often use a Hyundai i20 for trips with a family of four.

Such a shame, really. I've tested most EVs for sale here in Norway (many more than available in the US) and the EV6 is my clear favourite. Almost bought one this Christmas.

Shedding a mechanized tear of sentious oil.

Haha, why do people still think EVs are more prone to fire? So much data showing the opposite, and we still got these weird comments.

Equus.

What a horrible list, totally anecdotal and pointlessly US-centric, basically listing every vehicle that might fit consideration.

That's why "no compromises" is corny at best, and most certainly wrong.

“No compromises”

Dude, my faith in humanity dies one comment like this at a time. Unbelievable.

Two of three remaining worthwhile writers are leaving the ship. It will be hard for Mercedes to steer the Jalopnik off that iceberg.

That’s so weird. My school bus drivers in East Germany were the same. Our driver got to use a new Mercedes for a while, and the rear wheel once lifted in a fast corner, making the whole flexible bus shodder like hell. I guess some parents must have heard that and complained, because a week later this driver was back

Well, try one, don't take other people's opinion for granted. But if you want more opinion, nothing affordable right now beats the Kia EV6. They did (almost) everything right. Back bench doesn't slide and there's no rear wiper. Product planner that came up with that needs a wacking.

Given your last photo, notice how Tesla opened a bunch of charging stations to other brands this week, too. It’s an odd move because the argument pro Tesla is for a large part its superior infrastructure. During holidays, there are lines at other charging networks.

You can tell by how this is dragging out though that the law seems to be dormant anyway!?

This! That’s why Subaru remains a niche player in Europe - their cars are fine, their expensive thirst for fuel is not.

If the Polestar 2 wasn’t such an incompetent EV, I’d be all over it. From the dismal inefficiency, to the cramped and weird interior with no space for legs and head, to the weird Fisher Price grade key and core functions on tablet only...this is not the EV to buy, coming from a saddened old Volvo guy.

Wait, 3.5% of hybrids are getting into fiery situations? Am I reading these numbers wrong?
