I don't believe in "powers that be", but we've all witnessed "let's earn more money than the next guy". That's what I'd rathet believe in, once everything is up and running. We also need that to happen, to avoid the inflation everyone is so scared of right now.

The second this situation becomes permanent we call it inflation and return to square 1. People are already switching jobs like crazy and pay increases of 60% are not unheard of. Raw materials are expensive, if available at all, stocks are at all time highs, consumer goods are being sold at willy nilly prices because

...thanks to Kinja, I need several minutes of clicking just to find your comment *that I have been alerted to*. Whoever designed Kinja is in sore need of some whipping.

To this day I am baffled by how a blog with so much traffic tries their best to avoid getting comments by running Kinja.

Is this your entire argument?

We own its Hyundai sibling and actually use it as our family car while my fancy car is...inoperable. They're decent, but you are constantly reminded of its econobox origins. Small stuff keeps failing, rust prevention is laughable, and some parts are designed to last through warranty - and not a minute longer. Still,

That would be an absolutely interesting take in a post on its own: Why do Turkish people like Cadillac? I'd rather go TOFAS all the way...in Europe, at least, Cadillac has a horrible reputation for shoddily made cars without desirable attributes.

It took him 20 years to accept the thought that the GDR was too flawed to survive. He now acknowledges that as a fact. But if offered an insta-Socialism-pill right now, he’d take it.

I have an uncle in East Berlin who was a devoted communist. He owned a Moskvich 412, about the only Soviet car without a waiting list. Says all you need to know about its quality. After reunification of the two Germany’s, he bought a new Yugo Florida, because it was "not a Western car". Coming from a Moskvich, that

Exposed interior screws? Intensive no bullshit approach? A chemical conglomerate billionaire on a wacky island has you covered:

Now that's the kind of content and research that would make the above article more than barely newsworthy, but actually worthwhile and enlightening. I give you all my stars. Which is one. But, hey, stars!

I didn’t quite catch that...did you say this was boring?

All of my cars have had easy cabin filter replacements until I got a Nissan Leaf...

As everyone knows, Norway is full of EVs. Lots of newer electric cars get crushed because of minor damage and associated repairs like the above. A very similar case was picked up by NRK, our state broadcaster (think BBC with a plastic Viking hølmet). They found an electric Golf with debris damage to the battery.

Renault Avantime, anyone?

Check out Nilsson of Sweden. Bottomless pit, but a nice one.

I would love to say that I support your vision of tolerance and knowledge, but you had me at exploding one percenters.

It is worth noting though that Volvo did not earn money from this patent. The "tech" was available to everyone, in an ambition to make traffic safer. Pretty neat, in a capitalist context.

Again, I agree, and it’s in the industry’s interest for people to want new stuff and remain perplexed by how things work.
