I just simply agree on everything you said. But let's be more optimistic, there'll be some changes with enough grasroot pressure.

By 2030? That’s not even news. That would probably be an entire generation of tech into the future; think solid state batteries.
It’s interesting because what we see here in Norway is that less than 10 yo Leaf and iMiev are getting discarded of because of minor issues with the battery system. You got charger and plug issues, which are easy to fix, but extremely costly at a shop (60-90% of vehicle value), and battery issues, which also turn into…
This looks like Engrish. Or an April fool’s joke, possibly a high school statement. Please, this can’t be real! No person with a brain can sit in on a brainstorming and hit the PUBLISH button on this crap. And are they really going to change the Alfa Romeo brand name?
C’mon, they’re trying really hard to shorten that 15 year time frame.
Hello from Norway, yes, people do generally follow rules here a lot. But that doesn’t mean that a winding mountain road doesn’t inspire to enjoy some spirited driving.
What an utterly non-descript design. Apart from front and taillights, nothing here suggests Volvo. I’m all in on the tech, now get back to the drawing board and do something that is sexy and has lineage; like the V90.
Someone should introduce them to the slowmo guys.
Best comment section ever.
The Changli series is the best that has happened to Jalopnik in ages, really. Weird, interesting, informative, written with Torch's consistent wit, and, above all, unique content. That's the holy grail of blogism.
Let me tell you, the latest small Peugeots look way sharper in person, too. The electric 208 (2008?) sells well here in Norway, and usually in real colours like a meaty yellow, gold, blue etc.
Should be a job benefit for Jalopers.
I am waiting for the Changli vs weird VW SUV tug of war videos. Make it happen!
Sometimes, a meh car is the perfect car. For its time, this was a fantastically powerful family car. It has all the intellectual superiority of the minivan, without the fallability of a Voyager or the silly features of an Odyssey. Oh, and they sold it with a ten year warranty. I, for one, want one.
I really don’t envy Jeep collectors.
It’s heartbreaking, really. Now introduce more vote-hindering policies for an additional nudge towards the brutalist hellscape of phony religiousness, 1%-focused, xenophobic future of the American right.
...by replacing a lot of stuff all the time, like you would with an UAZ or Lada. A Landcruiser would have been a more reasonable choice, especially in Africa, where a Jeep is pretty exotic. Even more so in Asia.
They did, but people are spending money that wasn't there earlier, shouldn't have been there without stimulus/printing. The supply/demand idea has reasonable limits, prices mentioned in this thread and everywhere else now are *not* reasonable. Money seems to be losing its value.
Crazy and insane are, for once, the correct choice of words. This is not a rational market anymore. I am very worried about inflation coming to stick; prices don’t always come down again after shortages. With the current “shortage of everything” we’re looking at a real economic shock. At the same time, money is being …
That's insane. There must be quite some work necessary to extract the valuable elements, too.
