Exactly! I first thought I was stupid -”but it says 14 in the illustration?” - then I figured it was just a purely chosen picture.

Funny thing is, a while back, these were very affordable. My wife vetoed buying a pristine one for 7k€ as a family car (lots of seats!). Since then, they have spent a decade appreciating at 1-1.5k€ per year.
The best thing is, if you’re patient, you can buy all the odd cars at ridiculous discounts. I have a huge collection of Eastern Bloc cars that I acquired for as little as 2.50€ each. Bought many, resell them at 10-15 times my purchase price locally.

Haven’t seen the video, but the pictures show a Volvo 740, not a Volvo 240.

We have 2 cars, a 2002 Honda Stream which in top gear, 5th, at 90kph is running at 3000 rpm. Vtec and all are fine, but this is too loud at too low a speed. When is our other car, a 2001 Camry, running 3000 rpm in top gear? At 180kph. That’s twice the speed. Even newer cars, like a brand spanking new Ford Galaxy, will…
They didn’t sheik the speed limit?
That is a lot of value to put on one - 1 - plane. Is that standard procedure?
Scandinavia is homogenous to the ridiculous. If your neighbour buys a red car, you will probably, too. :)
A couple of decades ago, Norwegians pretty much had a “got to use them up”-attitude. With more wealth and normative change, I figure today’s oil eating Toyotas are binned or sold to Arabian countries pretty quickly.
This is such a clear and well-made argument. Excellent!
Oil burning is still an issue people here seem to be willing to live with, in exchange for otherwise low maintenance cost with Toyota cars.
Raises some red flags.
This is a brilliantly entertaining and educating article! Kudos for avoiding the blogosphere “me, myself and I”-intro that lasts for 842 paragraphs.
