Just finished up McCarthy's Blood Meridian after much putting off. There are some slow parts in the middle section but I'll be goddamned if it's not one of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. And researching it now and finding all the allusions in it to stuff like Moby Dick shows just how on the ball…

I really loved it. KSR is experimenting with the narrative voice in his last few books, you'll see what I mean if you read it. The beginning chapter is strangely dry for some reason but I really couldn't put it down once it got going and it's been on my mind ever since.
