It's an arbitrary number next to your name. How can this possibly have any impact on your enjoyment of the game?

But it sounds like, by your own estimation of your skill, that's where you SHOULD be (between the non-competitors and the really good players), both scorewise and place in any given race. Not to "l2p n00b" because I'm pretty crap at the game myself, but that uncomfortable position is pretty common for me in MP games…
