Machines were up and running at MSP and ATL today — I saw them! No extra delays.

@Zanzan42: The fourth amendment:

@themajik1: Not to worry. They're really low energy, and you have to go through the machines 1000 times in order to be exposed to the equivalent of one dental x-ray.

@bzgunner: Isn't that the truth. So many people in the world (including in the US) truly losing their rights....the right to not be malnourished, the right for stable shelter, the right not to have your country's average lifespan be 35 years of age. This is all over 10 freaking seconds of your time while waiting to

@McKeystone: Thank you. As of late, it's nice to have some rationality and kindness around here once in a while.

@Liam Kinkaid: What's your point? It's a horrible part of American history, but saying that an article today shouldn't be taken seriously because of an article they ran in '42 is akin to me not wanting to visit Germany today because of what THEY did in the 40's, or England for what they did in the 1770's for that

@DangerousLiberal: Exactly. It's not a right whatsoever. I just hope the epic failure of "opt out" day puts an end to this nonsense.

@badhatharry: I'll vote for that. As I wrote above replying to a similar comment about Rosa Parks, it's waayyyy more than a little wrong to compare fighting against literally 10 seconds of your time at an airport...as you are about to freely fly across the country/world to being hosed down and chased by police attack

@dolo54 blows minds and blows engines!: It's waayyyy more than a little wrong to compare fighting against literally 10 seconds of your time at an airport...as you are about to freely fly across the country/world to being hosed down and chased by police attack dogs because you wanted to take a damn bus ride across town

Thank you Rosa! I couldn't agree more.

@techinfo001: They're not irradiating anyone. Go stand out in the sun for a half hour and you'll get a much higher exposure than any body scanner would ever give you. Go through the machines 1000 times in a row, according to CBS News, and you're still fine. As for the rest, it's a slippery slope argument which I

@Please Help Me: Great point. That's why here, they used a random number generator, so all phones were fair game. It could be argued, though, that younger people and a growing number of others wouldn't answer a call from an unknown number though. That's why all polls need to be taken with a grain of salt, you're

@stereobot: Easier said than done on the job change. Why no respect for the employees? They're just doing their jobs. Be mad at what they're forced to do — that's fine — but don't hate on the working stiffs there to collect a paycheck.

@tashi: I'm not arguing that more info can't change peoples' minds. Or that the outrage can't be felt by the authors. I'm just saying that this isn't the place for them to argue it. If they were strongly anti-abortion, they shouldn't argue that here either. Or pro gun control, or pro Sarah Palin. It's just not

@ranjix: I feel I'm pretty educated about it actually, not "genuinely clueless."

@lilbit0hell: I think people knew what they were agreeing to though. It's been all over the news, and most of the news has been about the negative aspects of the machines. If anything, approval DROPPED to 81% before the poll.

@JAlexoid: Feel free to. If it's your destination, you won't even see the machines. If you're departing from here, you...probably won't either. Only a fraction go through them. But do what you choose — freedom is wonderful.

@Uracil: Words cannot describe how awesome that is.

@Uracil: Your suggestions are entirely possible — it could be. My point though is that it's a policy that's not going to change with such high support from the electorate, as well as who the electorate, well, elected — the president and congress. And yes, the idea that pilots should be subjected to it is pretty dumb

@sassafras_: Amen to the uneasiness of yours. The indefinite detainment and the warrantless wiretaps especially bother me. America is supposed to be better than that.
