Because maybe he was a non-verbal, large 2 year old, and if the mom had done what moms did in the past with non-verbal kids - get his hand, give a quick slap to the hand, so he can associate hitting his mother with pain - people would call CPS on her for child abuse.

Reward the good behavior, ignore the bad. Sounds crazy, but it works.

I don't think most parents "let" their kids hit them. Most little kids go through a hitting/biting phase. You're supposed to restrict their movement or ignore or act visibly hurt. But you can't just haul off and smack the kid back, you know?

And it's not like Disney movies have never had characters die, for Pete's sake. Let's see, off the top of my head: Frozen, Bambi, The Lion King...

Jesus Christ! Not knowing or remembering The Color Purple does not make one "culturally unaware." I am betting you don't know who Satan João is.

The people on this site, I swear to God, are the biggest bunch of self-congratulatory twits.

Until they're as cold as your frigid heart, you nasty bitch!

I think the photo of them is beautiful, but that wall looks like moldy cauliflower to me.

Maybe the goat-milking business is a bad example, but if you've learned how to pack on a line, that's a skill. If you have experience with commercial fish

Someone tried saying the same about Gary Busey, but he's got a more creepy vibe.

My god. Thank you for sharing your story. And thank you for being honest about the pressure to have a so-called thick skin when it comes to degrading, sexist, and sometimes violent behavior. We've been taught for so long to just take it. All of it.

I get pretty upset when southern Cali girls spread their weird judgements and social bias in blog comments. It makes me uncomfortable when I see stupid, intolerant people posting online.

That seems like a personal problem.
