I think you’re right - the “law and order” vote is incredibly easy to get, just be tough on crime and criminals, and promise more money for law enforcement.

Prison conditions and overly harsh sentencing are one of the places I think you can actually put a good percentage of the blame on the general public-- especially voters.
I live in the Northeast and have known a couple of people who worked as prison guards and by all accounts it’s a pretty shitty job. Not much training and very low pay for work that can often be difficult. I can only imagine how much worse conditions are in the South. We need more people like these striking prison…
