Activision should have to license the right to use the likeness of another person or company’s work. Whether it’s a fictional story or not, the likeness wasn’t fair use. It was for profit, and for profit requires permission, which they obviously didn’t get.

Diablo 3 took what, 11 years. StarCraft 2 took 12 years. Warcraft 4 still isn’t out. Year, 6 years isn’t much these days. Also, Diablo isn’t their #1 franchise. That’d be WoW. #1 is what brings in the most money. It’s the unfortunate truth.

Here’s the truth, Diablo as I know and love is dead. Not because of this, but because the people who made it are long gone doing other things.

Its because Diablo wasn’t their baby. It was Blizzard North, aka Condor Games. Those guys are gone. They’ve done other things within the industry. The post-2005 Blizzard is afraid of the M-rated tone of Diablo and Diablo 2. Hence the major retconning in Diablo 3.
