Forgiveness and acceptance go hand in hand. By accepting their differences, you're forgiving their actions that wronged you.

Surely you do not need to forgive others. After all they are being themselves and how can you forgive someone for being themselves? Accept the differences.

Again, there's a difference between apologizing for your actions and apologizing for how your actions affected someone. I can feel perfectly justified in what I did, but still be a compassionate enough human being to not completely invalidate someone else's emotions for the sake of being right. I can feel justified

I agree. So often it's how someone says something, rather than what they said, that really hurts the other person.
