The blog post may have endorsed/embraced Android just as they did the same for Symbian, it didn't say anything about giving them a licence free.

Thats the theory behind open source software but Google have taken the principle and used it as a stick to beat people like MS and Apple, who use software to make money directly, while profiting indirectly thru their control of the internet thru advertising media.

Won't be ongoing royalties from Google unless they voluntarily accept them. The point of this is to establish infringement then get licence fees from manufacturers

Except the fee they pay Microsoft, the fee they will wind up paying Oracle, the penalties they may pay Apple...etc.

It will confirm the lie that Android is free and make companies less likely to use it to gain a commercial advantage as they have been.

Very slanted version of that story. At no time in that blog did the Sun CEO say Java was being freely licensed to Android. He was probably making the assumption they would licence the same as Nokia, SE and BB did and welcoming them on that basis.

Amazon might just "shock horror" licence Java like Google should have. I read on one of the BB forums that the Playbook OS includes a Java licence for running Android apps

I bought a MBA when the latest update came out and am very pleased with it. I was in John Lewis the other day having a look at the S9 and its a very nice thing but I really couldn't see why anyone would buy one over an AIr, even for running Windows. In fact there was a mid-40s lady looking at it too who said she

Crushed? Probably not, but I think it will start o show a lot of cracks very soon. OHA ain't going to last long when you have one massively dominant partner and even it isn't making very much money.

The only thing Apple "stole" is the swipe to bring them up - the list view was stolen by Android in the first place

Agree. If you didn't like the decision Apple made, you didn't have to buy the device(s). I am glad they have position to kick the internet forward. I don't miss Flash on my iOS device and I rarely use it on desktop/laptop machines. In fact, when my new Air arrives I'm not going to install it (or does ClicktoFlash need

Samsung make some of the iPad2 displays, LG/PHillips make the others

Your opinion is probably valid but it doesn't change the fact the useable screen is smaller because of it

If you have a Desire with an AMOLED screen rather than the alter SLCD, it will be. It was one of the worst screens for over-saturation

Over-saturation has been an issue on all Samsung's screens. From what I have heard this is the best yet but still suffers.

Well, I'm impressed enough to put my money where my mouth is. Just ordered 13 inch /128. I have a 2 year old MBP 13 but the size /weight for me is a great advantage when travelling and I can get a good price for the old one.

Nope, that was on my work Windows machine which doesn't have spellcheck in browser :)

As others here say, Dragon Dictation is very, very good. Streets ahead of the Android voice-text. Th downside at the moment is you have to tale to the app then paste to test or e-mail.

Same. Are you suing Word 2011 or an older one?

It is mentioned in other reviews- Safari now uses Webkit2 which has made most of the advances that Chrome had native to Webkit and gone a bit further. I'm very impressed and the flicking between pages is just awesome.
