Stay golden, Flashikku.

The character is also 1/2 Swedish IIRC. I'm generally pretty leftist and am happy to call out racism or white supremacy, but this whole deal seems more like tone-deaf writing than outright whitewashing.

Firs the grumpy cat movie, and then this. Lifetime is slowly becoming self-aware. Find John Connor.

So it's basically Dirt Tub Time Machine?

He wasn't particularly gruff in the Guy Ritchie movies, but maybe that's it. I think it's that he's not aloof enough.

Yeah, I agree, but I don't know why. I've liked him in other stuff, and he's suitably British, but he just seems wrong for the part.

Those are both great, but I think And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out is a really approachable way to start, even though it's later than the "classic" period. It's the perfect record for summer barbecues, and it's got a little of everything.

I love that Yo La Tengo makes no bones about their love of other music and does covers all the time.

You make a good point—if Ranker is accurate, most of the 10 highest-earning comedians are people I'd feel ok about taking my mother to see (material-wise, not quality-wise). But I still think in terms of overall numbers, fewer comedians work clean than not.

It seems like most standup comedians right now are somewhat raunchy, so much so that it's generally unusual when a comic can gather some fame while working completely clean, like Jim Gaffigan.

Wouldn't that be the live action Finding Nemo instead?

Is this going to be a dark, gritty remake, where the Little Mermaid declines to commit ritual murder, and is instead obliged to become an air spirit who must toil for 300 years to gain an immortal soul? Asking for a friend.

Has someone made a lazy joke about comparing this and the price of new Macs? If not, let's go ahead and pretend someone did to save us all from reading it.

Outside of the Bay Area and maybe New York, people are generally content to let geographic accuracy slide in favor of recognition. Sure, Milpitas is much closer to San Jose, and San Jose is actually larger than SF, but there it is.

Forget it, Rock. It's Little China.

That's specific to skinheads, or birds in the vernacular I think. Since skinheads are pretty into working class stuff, it's not as far removed from the mullet as one might think.

Well then, never mind.

Maybe he's just bummed that he has to rent out his PA.

When MacKaye was interviewed on Bullseye, the host Jesse Thorn brought that joke up. His reaction was pretty funny about it, mentioning that the drummer (Brendan Canty) owns a house and has four kids.

Seemed like a canned response.
