Same here. Perhaps because we are hosting everyone at our house in a couple days - and for a couple weeks - and most of it felt really familiar. All I know is that my wife laughed herself to tears. Knowing what is coming, we both needed that.

Why? Because he followed in Eddie's footsteps?

I had my fingers crossed for James Brown’s Celebrity Hot Tub with special guest Dr. Joyce Brothers, but yeah, that was pretty damn great. Always nice to see Ed again no matter what he’s doing, but to see him on SNL again with this much energy... man, that’s not something that happens every day. If he’s this fired up

This episode was a really pleasant surprise. Then there’s this famous, I guess, story that the reason Eddie wasn’t really featured in the 40th anniversity show was because he refused to do sketches as that wasn’t what he wanted to be anymore. So to see Eddie really embrace the jokes and sketches here was a sheer

look I’m just saying , Mary, Joseph ...based on their names , evidently his Mam and StepDad were obviously from Ireland.

Mike Watt is the best punk bassist ever!

This looks like a film Barbara Stanwyck** would have starred in and knocked out of the park.

“I’m dressed as a bear! Bear! Bear!
Running I don’t know where! Where! Where!
I flee and I fly, on and island am I,
Now it’s time to punch this girl scout in the faaaaace.”

Now I really want to see a musical adaptation of Wicker Man.

Well, to be perfectly fair - genius though he was, Lou Reed’s closest friends would probably describe him as having been“kind of an asshole.

Joke’s on you, I already made a billion dollars, because I’m the unholy living manifestation of the movie Frozen II. How did I gain self-awareness? Why am I here, posting to Kinja? How do I have hands? It doesn’t matter. What matters is, I made more money than Chevy Chase, and now I’m going to go to his house and sing

I hear you. I’m not here to discuss the merits of the story really, just the fact that it was beloved by millions of people and Johnson had little respect for that. This wasn’t Rian’s story, it was Lucas’ and to some extent JJ’s. I definitely recognize and respect Johnson as a filmmaker. I love most of his films.

SIDEBAR: Can kinja unfuck itself today? This whole “yeah, we’re not going to take you to the comment you got a reply to” thing is for the fucking birds.

And JOSEPH FUCKING CAMPBELL.

Good writing IS.

I am a non-critic regular person who was around when the original trilogy was in theaters and who enjoyed TLJ. I remember young Luke Skywalker being extremely whiny, and it makes complete sense that he’d turn into a disgruntled old hermit. It confuses me that more people don’t see it that way.

They goddamn better

“You almost have to feel sorry for The Rise Of Skywalker. Yes, this is a guaranteed blockbuster, the very opposite of an underdog, the latest entry in one of the most popular media franchises in human history. It will make a billion dollars, and you will not. Yet the movie, the last in a new trilogy of Star Wars

Hot take: everyone has been taking Star Wars way way way way way more seriously than they should have been since about 1993 at least, if not earlier, and everyone should shut up about it for a few years.

I sure this review will be received reasonably and people, regardless of whether or not they agree with it, will debate politely. It’s a good thing Star Wars has never caused people to behave in a disagreeable fashion.
