I love the concept of a studio head seeing Jacob’s Ladder and thinking to himself “I can remake this and make MORE money with it by toning down the elements that made it a cult movie!”

The Belushi bio was terrible, but I’ll disagree with you on Eyes Wide Shut. It’s definitely not great Kubrick and I think Cruise is miscast, but it’s a well constructed and beautiful to look at film. Reminds me of Barry Lyndon (not story obviously or setting) but in that it’s not a great film but it sure is purty’.

As a 40-something white guy, can I look down with disgust on said 20 something white guys? Maybe make a snide Gen-X comment that shows my ennui and negativity?

I’ve never heard of said film, but as a lover of all things terrible how bad of a film are we talking? Enjoyable bad or just dull terrible and misguided bad? Like Billy Jack Goes to Washington?

To paraphrase Homer Simpson speaking to Frank Grimes: “You mean you didn’t get a MacArthur Fellowship? Now let me show you pictures of the time I was an astronaut.”

I’m getting here late and I’m sure there’s a fine and logical discussion of “The Joker” being included on this list. It’s probably a very friendly discussion that really discusses the both the pros and cons of the film.

Normally I’d probably go 1,3,2 but Charlize Theron looks TOO much like her so I’ll go: 3,1,2

As a huge SCTV fan boy, I was sold as soon as I saw Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara were the stars. Unless it had turned out to be an incredibly unmitigated piece of shit, I was going to enjoy it.

I wish I could up-vote your post more, because this is the best description I’ve heard yet. And McBride, if anything, gives way more leeway and attention to his fellow actors.

For Crazy ex-gf, I get that might be on me: I’m not a musical guy and while I do get depressed here and there, I’ve never quite hit those depths. So that might be on me.

Oh, don’t get me wrong: I love me some EB&D McBride assholishness. The man is the king of playing that ‘type’...

Fully agree. The reason Gemstones is so great is that it’s focus isn’t just on McBride. I find the guy insanely funny, don’t get me wrong, but there’s also a point of over-saturation in a show.

Don’t watch anyone over thirty!

Decent list although I’d put Righteous Gemstones WAY higher.

You’re entitled to your very wrong opinion. As long as I find out you don’t advocate for some stupid fucking spandex movie.

Pretty sure I have a man crush on Matthew Berry between Shadows, Garth Marenghi and Toast of London...

Ooh, is that true? Tommy Smith will be calling the game? I’m not a huge soccer guy but I know who he is and the few times I’ve listened to him call a game he’s been awesome.

So help me, if the Jets lose to Miami (again!) this week I don’t care if they win out: Adam Gase better be fired.

Nah. I heard she’s been rescued and is back with her loved ones.
