I’m pretty sure we’re in a very, very small minority on this site. I was one of the few folks defending Scorsese on here and man did I get it from all sides. Can’t I just have my pretentious films in peace?
I loved Rogue One. I told my kids (who I saw it with) it’s the only SW film since New Hope and Empire that is on par with those two. I’m surprised it didn’t make the list, but I can’t bash the MCU and not expect the same derision towards SW so...
I need a moment alone...
Oh absolutely. He’s on my ‘man crush’ list for sure.
I’ve never seen Spring Breakers: is it worth seeking out?
A Truffaut reference! Get out of here with your artsy crap so I can watch more guys in Spandex wreck buildings!
But YOU never paid for drugs...not once. I also fucking love that film so much. I have the Blu and I won’t settle for anything but the ‘extended pretentious director cut’ on it!
I was going to say “Dewey Cox” but that’s 2007 so...you maybe right.
Oh, I’ll take those odds. Entertainment and films go through phases, and I’ll put odds that it will be. Plus that film was DULL. I’d agree on Ragnorak, Guardians or Winter Soldier, but a film that is so treacly and heavy handed to wring emotion?
Well I’m over 40 so unless science and health gets a lot better I’ll probably be dead.
I have to admit, this spandex movie hater genuinely loved Ragnarok (one of the best action-buddy movies since 48 hours) and Guardians of the Galaxy (which gets right a lot of what the Star Wars prequels and sequels get wrong)
“that all manage to be engrossing and entertaining standalone films at worst” - I beg to differ on all of them being engrossing and/or entertaining personally but I get your point. I don’t agree with you, but you are entitled to your opinion on this.
She’s got a point and she’s also pretty awesome. But I’m a sucker for her going back to The 40 year old Virgin and Wet Hot American Sucker so I’m hardly unbiased.
I didn’t like it as much as ‘The Nice Guys’ but I get the poster’s point: there’s no comedy on here.
First, I genuinely love your username.
“the astounding feat” - can you clarify this a bit for me?
Curse you for bringing up ‘comedies’ because besides “The Other Guys’ I would have added Shane Black’s “The Nice Guys” which was SO much better than I thought it had any right to be.
Oh, I fully agree with you. I’m not a Spandex Movie fan in any sense: I was one of the few folks defending that ‘hack’ Scorsese.
I would if I could hear you from the magnificence of their history or the fact that no matter what team you root for in Baseball, my team is historically better.
