Absolutely loving this show, which is a very pleasant surprise. Have missed David Anders since Alias and Thomas since Veronica Mars - never watched Party Down, a gap I apparently need to fill - and the main cast, aside from Major and Liv's roommate, are uniformly excellent. Interesting premise, witty dialogue and a

It's very, very weird…between Jane the Virgin, The Flash and iZombie you could argue that the network with the most good shows to premiere this season has been the CW.

I just love that I'm not the only one still calling him Sark. So, so pleased to see him in another show I actually like, and from Rob Thomas? Excellent.

I'll allow it, because, again, it's Pitchfork, the 10 to MBDTF still surprises me. And for all I often don't like about the site, their review had a brilliant closing line:

I do generally agree with that sentiment, and I don't necessarily say that to "diminish" GKMC as much as to establish my feelings about TPAB with his prior album serving, in this case, as a (very high) bar and get the nigh-inevitable comparison to his prior work out of the way early.

To Pimp a Butterfly is, tentatively, my favorite rap album since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and that rating is ridiculous on both counts. When fucking Pitchfork, which gave MBDTF a 10 and will probably do the same here, is giving out a more worthy high score than AV Club, there's a problem.

I didn't have a "bad taste" in my mouth from RTJ2 but I agree it was a bit…underwhelming, given all of the hype. Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck) is one hell of a catchy track but it doesn't have the emotional impact of most tracks on To Pimp a Butterfly.

I wouldn't say it's inherently a "good" thing, but I'd say push comes to shove it's slightly more impressive to have an album where you're not bumping the singles months later but still love and appreciate the intelligence, artistry and cohesiveness of the entire work.

Today I finally re-visited the single and wow, the difference is really stark. It's still a fun track but the album differences really do elevate it to greatness. As much as I love Mortal Man, had the order been switched and a slightly longer intro been attached to "i" (something detailing what he feels he needs to

…I'm ashamed to say I didn't realize that was a woman rapping until reading this comment. Based on the comments here, I'll definitely give her stuff a listen!

Two listens in…I'll go ahead and say this one is better than good kid, m.A.A.d city. That one was catchier, I'll probably listen to stuff from it more often but this one is deeper, smarter, amazingly insightful in its examination of blackness. That one "just" felt like a really good, well put together album (not to

Agreed on the theme, I was sold on this series by the end of that opening number two minutes in.

I can't keep getting attached to TV musicals when it seems like they never catch on well enough in the general populace…for all its flaws, I loved Smash to death, but at least they had enough time to write a proper series finale. There's a decent shot Galavant ends on a cliffhanger and is replaced by some other kind

Old comment, but…

I made a similar comment to a friend of mine wondering why Kevin Hart is suddenly in so many movies…"Hey, black people get an Adam Sandler too."

I'd disagree about Random Access Memories in that while there were certainly some simply ok tracks there, there were some real highlights that weren't ever touched as singles. "Giorgio by Moroder" is, to me, simply magical, and easily the best track on the album. "Touch", "Motherboard" and "Contact" also work really

It's been four years since I last saw the movie so my exact memories are a bit rusty but in general I'd say camp isn't necessarily bad. Goldfinger - Pussy Galore, Oddjob, gold-plated woman - and You Only Live Twice - VOLCANO BASE, everything in Japan - are pretty campy in some ways too. Everyone chews scenery in

Hell Lazenby's movie was better than all of Connery's save Goldfinger. Sean was fantastic as James Bond but, again, with the exception of Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice his films really don't hold up very well.

Yeahhhhh everything in that third act of Quantum was apparently made of explodium…

I'd say both series had one classic (Bourne Ultimatum is an extraordinarily solid action film/film period and I know Dark Knight has its detractors but I'd still call it overall excellent, if a bit overhyped) but are otherwise good, not great…ignoring Bourne Legacy, of course, which was bland at BEST.
