More cars always bad, true, and I hear you. My small niggle is the part of the argument that any road change would require reprogramming of the car. For Cruise, maybe as they rely heavily on super accurate maps. For Tesla it can “think” through the road primitives and therefore can drive even on unmapped roads.

That wasn’t their point: if you have 15 cars, or 1 bus with 15 people, then the bus does less road damage. It is always about the people ammiright? :)

Tesla Owner reading comments, sips tea... 😂

An article about consumers not wanting EVs that doesn’t mention Tesla. I think the author’s bias is showing.

I feel Jalopnik, like basically every other participant in the auto industry that is clinging to the good ole days... Is missing the point of Tesla’s mission.

Today I learned: miles driven by gas cars just to get gas, oil changes, tune ups, break jobs, emissions testing... are called deadhead miles. Thanks jalopnik!

Getting cheaper everyday since my fuel cost is normally ⅓ of gas cost. ¼ when it nears $4/gl. ½ when it is closer to $2/gl. Gas cars actually lose efficiency over time, that is why you need, and change, oil. This is just not a supportable canard..

I was SHOCKED. Shocked! I say at the high quality of work(wo)manship on this article. I read Jalopnik a lot and it is not usually so: Thoughtful and with practiced construction, more useful information than editorial opinion, the 15 Minute City, avoided preaching, ... hyperlinks!

If you read this Tucker Carlson’s voice and cadence, it is much more fun...

Going for clicks? As a two Tesla household, what rubs me the wrong way is how little the Biden administration is actually doing to clear the way for EVs at the state level. That’s where the dealer protection laws are. That is where (in PA) Tesla cannot sell a car with a new inspection sticker. That is where (in TX)

My 4 yr old, 2018 Model 3 drove my (attentive) butt to the Kroger yesterday, and the dry cleaners today. Utilizing software that wasn’t invented at delivery, with the original cameras. Welcome to the future.

*This article brought to you by the fine folks at the All American Automotive Dealership and Kitten Orphanage Conglomerated Trade Association.

What is wrong with you? (See, hyperbole IS fun).

Sigh. Swappable Traction battery = swappable engine. Why don’t we do that?

Well then. Welcome back to reading news. Also, there was a pandemic, and there is now a vaccine is just starting to battle continued spreading, electric cars are a thing now, ...when did you stop consuming news again?

> To save weight and complexity, it’s possible the car won’t even have modern amenities like regenerative braking

As an EV driver for 9yrs your sweeping generalization is, as most SGs are, inaccurate? Under sampled? Specious? 😜

Welcome to the world of electric cars!
