I’m not sure of your point. I agree, and have said more than once, his actions (or inactions) were shitty. There were many heroes that day (Students and teachers), and he was not one of them.

All I’ve said is that it’s important to understand why he didn’t. He was probably terrified, understandably so. He will live

And unfortunately a portion of those new voters will still vote for the GOP. I’m not sure of the demographics, but I know they won’t be 100%. Hell, where I live probably well over 1/2 of those new voters would still vote GOP (rural america FTW!).

Exactly. And think, the popular solution presented by some people is to put teachers in that same environment. You know, people trained to educate, not defend students in gun fights.

My wife is a teacher. I don’t want her, or our kids, in schools where people, besides the SRO, are carrying guns. At the same time, I

I agree. Where I live, there are no dedicated SROs, they cycle them out, but if that’s not the case, I could see how he might have thought it was an easy ride to retirement.

I didn’t hear he retired though (not calling you a liar). All I had heard up to now is that he was put on suspension and immediate turned in his

Which he did (turn in his badge). I’m not excusing his actions, merely looking into why he may have done what he did. Was it shitty? Yes, but that makes him no less human.

I’m sure he will live the rest of his life haunted by his decision to do nothing.

My wife and I talked about this last night (SRO not going into the school). She couldn’t fathom why he didn’t go. While we both agree that it was his job to do it, it took some convincing to get her to see why he might not have gone in.

You’re talking about 1 guy, likely with a 9mm with maybe 9-15 rounds going up

Even with the recent turn toward Democrats, Florida citizens will continue to vote in GOP members at every level of government. This hellscape is irredeemable.

What I take from this is that DTJ thinks that because your father is/was part of a government agency, then your opinion means crap. So, I will follow his lead and completely ignore this asshat because his father is president.

Or, just tell them to turn it off no matter what. I don’t care about auto play. I care that when I tell them to turn it off that they turn it off. I don’t care if the episode has just started, is in the middle, or about to end.

Granted, I’m not an ass to make them turn it off while a show is playing unless I’ve already

Insteon (SmartHome) makes your first one, but of course it’s not z-wave, but Insteon based. It has always bothered me why insteon has some things but z-wave just can’t (or won’t) do it. For instance:

Yeah, I already looked up OLEDs (I think it would be better in this situation than just LCD). Couldn’t find a size I liked (was thinking 5-7"). And I did consider making it myself. However I think someone said the pound town one was 1 pound or something like that so for that price, you can’t buy the parts.

I have also

I was only thinking Pi because I could multipurpose it. I have pis that do a few things around my house, so either a Pi or an Arduino would work. I would probably also run it to mains power instead of battery. It’s also not a huge mission critical device so how long it takes to boot up wouldn’t much matter.

That said,

Looks like a great starting point. I wonder if I can get one at a similar price in the US.

I agree. I thought for a split second I could use it as an “On the Air” sign for when I’m on conference call, but at $35 I would expect more features, like being able to remotely turn it on/off. I could basically make one of these with a Raspberry Pi or Arduino and get a ton more functionality out of it.

Except, in this case, I’m not so sure that would be true. Who is to say that in increase in funding means an increase in teacher pay? Here that Superintendent was getting a raise equal to 1 teachers pay. At the very least, that could have gone to hiring 1 new teacher instead of the raise. $200k/year is more than

We’re also talking about children here. getting medical care. Why we care for the elderly, but not children(hell everybody) is just another moral outrage of this fucked country.

Why though? I actually enjoy the time of year and since the Christians actually stole it from the pagans, I think I’ll just steal that shit right back!

For me it’s a time of good cheer and family. I decorate to the hilt and play all the christiany christmas songs I can (I like the songs, but not necessarily their

Don’t send them here. Florida was actually pretty damn close in the last election and voted Obama in 2008 and 2012. We are a swing state, you really don’t want to give them more power here.

I agree with you to a point. I don’t think judicial appointments should be tied to an administration, however, lifetime is just too long. They should have a cap, even if it is 30 years. When lifetime appointments were first introduced, do you think they really considered how long we would be living now?
